The past two years have been tough for education in Indonesia. This is because the pandemic is not only impacting the health and economic aspects, but also education including the Taman Baca Inovator (TBI). Nevertheless, amid the pandemic, while waiting for the vaccine to arrive, Taman Baca Inovator continues to engage in online and offline activities through its guerrilla movement to help school functions to educate Indonesian children.
Right at the beginning of 2021, the long-awaited vaccine finally arrived in Indonesia. This is certainly good news for Indonesia, including for education and literacy since we think the movement will be easier after the vaccination process, especially because the spread of the virus has been at its highest in the middle of the year and face-to-face learning at school has not been implemented.
For us, vaccination is one of the efforts to advance education and literacy in Indonesia. With vaccination, it is possible that face-to-face learnings between teachers and students can be resumed, and after the vaccination, Taman Baca Innovator will continue to spread interest in reading throughout Indonesia without having to worry about the spread of the virus.
Taman Baca Innovator itself requires every member in the capital city and in the regions to be involved in vaccination. All members in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java, to Papua are participating in the success of the vaccination in Indonesia. This is because we believe that with more and more people being vaccinated, Indonesian Education and Literacy activities can return to normal, educating the nation’s children without being constrained by the pandemic.
