On Wednesday, 07 August 2019, PT Tiki held an event to handover their donation to Taman Baca Inovator (TBI) foundation. The company donated 1200 books and cash money of Rp 10,000,000 to further boost libraries development in Indonesia. The event was held in Sekolah Dinamika Indonesia school where a TBI library is located. The School housed Jendela Dunia Bekasi TBI library in Ciketing Udik Village, Bantar Gebang, Bekasi.
The event started at 10 AM to 11.30 AM, engaging 23 5th graders of the school. It started with an opening and speech from the Headmaster of Sekolah Dinamika Indonesia (Bapak Udin), Manager of Taman Baca Inovator (Ibu Yessi), and President Director of PT Tiki (Bapak Rocky). After the introduction, the activity continued with a symbolic handover of the donation, from PT Tiki to TBI, with 1 box of books and a plaque of Rp 10,000,000.
In addition to the donation, PT Tiki’s Bekasi regional representative (Ibu Rizka) also shared about literacy with the students. She shared about her favorite books, the reasons why reading is a necessity as well as the benefits of reading. “Don’t hate a subject because it may help us in our job in the future,” Ibu Rizka said to the students. According to her, all subjects will help us in our work in the future. Therefore, it is important to read and practice to understand a subject.
The event was closed with a group photo and a gift-giving where PT Tiki provided some gifts for the students of SD Dinamika Indonesia. We hope that this activity could further support TBI’s effort of establishing libraries in the country, which could attract children’s interest in books and improve the reading interest of Indonesian children.
