On 17 of August, the Republic of Indonesia is celebrating its independence, a mark in its history. All the people and elements of the government in the country is celebrating the day with various activities, ceremonies and interesting competitions this year in the country’s 73 years of Independence.
In that momentum this year, Taman Baca Inovator (TBI) celebrated the day with poetry recitation and photo competitions which was themed “”Independence and Literacy.” The two categories are opened for different participants. The poetry recitation competition was opened for children who frequent TBI library all over Indonesia, and the photo competition was opened for all TBI followers in social media. The results are submitted through TBI’s Instagram account and WhatsApp group. The activities took around 1 month to complete, until winner announcement and prize delivery.
We saw such a high enthusiasm from the children’s poem recitation through videos in TBI’s WhatsApp group. There were 17 poetry recitation participants from TBI libraries all over Indonesia. Meanwhile, the photo competition attracted 31 accounts that spread the word about literacy and invited other social media users to also participate.
It turned out that children in Indonesia can already feel the spirit of independence to achieve. From the competitions held by TBI, 3 people won the poetry reading competition and 2 people won the photo contests. Three winners of the poetry reading competition were Juwita from TBI Alfred Nobel Musi Banyuasin, Dina from TBI Phytagoras Jember and Nabila from TBI Alexander Graham Bell Bogor. Meanwhile, the two winners of the photo contest were Kak Tuti gunawati and Kak A.A Muizz. The cool prizes have also been delivered to every winner.
Hopefully, through these kinds of competitions, we can spur children’s enthusiasm to learn with TBI. Let’s light up our enthusiasm to continue to achieve! (Evlina Karlina)
