Education Collaboration, A Potential for the Country

Recently, Taman Baca Inovator (TBI) had a chance to be in a talk show themed Indonesian future dreams, which took place in Bank Tabungan dan Pensiunan Negara (BTPN) head office. The talk show was held in collaboration with multiple communities, forums and movements. TBI collaborated with Forum Dayakan Indonesia (FDI), a forum created for Indonesia empowerment and whose members are BTPN employees. They expect the bank to be “more than a bank,” not just another financial institution.

The collaboration between TBI and FDI flowed nicely in the form of an interactive talk show which was attended by three speakers from various communities.  The first speaker was Kak Bram Alamsyah, an IT Business employee of BTPN who also established Workout Embassy community – a community focusing on sport and health that is also active in social activities. The second speaker was Ibu Yessi Chandra, the head of Yayasan Taman Baca Inovator. The organization has established 23 libraries all over Indonesia and continues to develop children’s education and reading interest in Indonesia. The third speaker was Kak Daru Pradana from Podcast Pojokan, which is an online media providing inspiring contents in a comedy format. The inspiring contents are created to educate communities through SoundCloud application to be more aware of current issues so that the youth can have more valid opinions.

The talk show was attended by around 40 employees of BTPN which listened enthusiastically to the three speakers. Several people were so inspired by the establishment of 23 TBI libraries and wanted to be involved further in TBI’s activities. Several other people were also interested in Workout Embassy. The attendees, who were BTPN employees, also brought along books to be donated to Taman Baca Inovator. Some of them also expressed their willingness to visit TBI libraries and meet with the children supported by the libraries, while some others wanted to volunteer for book labeling.

From the successful event, we can see that people have high enthusiasm to build Indonesia, and there are still many people out there who have positive spirit to develop the country, especially through education. It is not easy to pursue our dream to develop the country, unity and collaboration are the keys. It is just like building a community where everyone has their role for the development. Taman Baca Inovator is aware of this and has been doing this to develop libraries and provide access to books to many areas in Indonesia. Are you interested to collaborate with Taman Baca Inovator for a better education in Indonesia? If so, let’s collaborate! (Evlina Karlina)
