My passion is to make a strong positive impact to Indonesia. I think Indonesia is a great country but we have a lot of homework to better our nation. Education is key and there are too many people here have little access to quality education, let alone opportunities. We believe that books are the least that many Indonesians should have access to in order to improve their chance in life. Taman Baca Inovator is our first initiative and certainly will not be the last.
This vision can only be achieved with the strong support from my parents, most especially my mother. Her message since I was a little girl is to bring candle to the darkness. Hopefully TBI will allow us to do just that.

Throughout my career, I have had many opportunities to see first-hand how children in many poor places in Indonesian really live. On one opportunity, I brought books to children in Biak, Papua. The village was not easy to reach, but I felt much joy when I saw the children’s smile to see the books, played with me and embraced me though they saw me as a “white” lady. It was a priceless reward. I see that as my greatest accomplishment.
Experiences like this have not only touched me but changed my life. I really want underprivileged kids in my coutry to have access to better education so that they can have an OPPORTUNITY to have a better life. Now as mother, that desires has motivated me even stronger to make a real, continuous impact.
I joined Taman Baca Inovator because it has a strong vision to not only help children with quality reading books, but also educate children with knowledge and character buiding. Children can come to play and learn in a safe and positive environment.

One year of teaching and interacting with children living in the underprivileged situations makes me more convinced that my passion lies in the world of education. I am always happy to become an educator or become someone who contributes to education purposes. For me, the passion itself is the joy.
Asking the children to keep learning, playing and reading books in Taman Baca Inovator is the materialization of my passion. In the future, I would love to live my life with the passion I currently have.
For me, joining Taman Baca Inovator means joining with ideas to educate the nation. Joining with Taman Baca Inovator does not mean joining with a kind of job only, but also contributing to the education and being happy in doing the job.
Passion is the reason why I join Taman Baca Inovator. I still want to give real contributions for education, designing programs in Taman Baca Inovator to attract the children to be more diligent in reading is one of the forms of the job, happiness and my contribution to education.
For me, joining in Indonesia Mengajar and living one full year with the children and “foreign” communities is the most extraordinary accomplishment in my life since I was given the chance to directly feel the life in the middle of all limitedness and become a teacher for their children. Sharing stories, knowledge, and motivations to the children becomes an important part of my special kind of pride. This is also the thing which brings me to join with Taman Baca Inovator. I also want to gain more extraordinary accomplishments in Taman Baca Inovator.

The art world, I enjoy every process in theater, because theater also means to learn about the meaning of life, learning how to study about someone’s character and perform that same character. I also like traveling, venturing into new places, either to the mountain or to the sea, while still within reach, I'll reach it.
When I heard about the vacancy at Taman Baca Inovator, I was very excited to apply. Because, honestly, I want to make my own taman baca or children library at home, and create positive activities for the children around my house. With me being there, I automatically want to learn more about the management of taman baca, besides, I also like to read and collect some books, and of course, I would be very happy if I could influence others to love reading.
My proudest accomplishment? Because I feel that I have not achieved anything yet. If required to answer, I would say, my greatest accomplishment until now is that I already managed to be a happy man, though happiness is something that is hard to achieve.

I am Evlina Karlina Sitepu, a Sumatran woman born in Bengkulu, 29 July 1996. I graduated from Bengkulu University, majoring in agribusiness. Since I was little, I have been actively involved with activities in my communities. For the most part, I did it because it was fun and it also helped me achieve and involved me in various activities.
When I entered university, I grew to love social responsibility activity and went deeper into it, especially since my major in agribusiness pushed me to be more involved with the community and give back to them. I was also involved in the Union of Catholic University Students of the Republic of Indonesia (PMKRI) which provided guidance and means to be vocal about social issues. I was very involved in the organization and went to become its General Secretary.
Through some of its activities, I was more and more involved in the organization's movement. It held social outing with street children, held live in activity with underprivileged families in remote areas, along with volunteer activities, women monologues, and other big events. Through these activities, I became aware that many other people are living below the poverty line. All of those processes made me even more sure that there are still many unsolved social issues in this country, and I want to be involved to better the situation.
Some time ago, after I completed university, I decided to join Taman Baca Inovator (TBI). The foundation is focusing on education and literacy improvement. Through the foundation, I can continue learning and developing myself, taking part in the betterment of Indonesian education. I believe that Taman Baca Inovator is doing something very valuable for the future of Indonesian children.

I graduated from Mathematics Education, Semarang State University. Previously, I was a young teacher in a teaching program for remote areas and had also been a math teacher at a high school in Magelang. During my tenure as a teacher, I interacted with many high school students with various psychological backgrounds. As a teacher with a close age gap from my students, they were like friends to me but we still respected each other. I also learned to involve them in decision making during the classes.
I spent one year as a young teacher in Asinua Village, Asinua Subdistrict, Konawe District, Southeast Sulawesi. The experience made me learn to live a harmonious life in a community and to tolerate other people and share with others. I was very amazed by the kindness of the Konawe community. They accepted me as their family and I was so happy to meet the children who studied in SD Asinua Utama elementary school as they always gave me a burst of positive energy. Lack of access to transportation, electricity, and communication in Asinua made it more difficult for the children in Asinua to get a proper education. This experience got me even more interested in working in education and social sectors so that I could help them further.
Taman Baca Inovator (TBI) is a medium for me to develop my passion for education and social sectors. Besides that, TBI helps me to continue learning and meeting new people who share the same passion for the advancement of Indonesian children's education. In the future, I want to keep being involved in education and continue to contribute to Indonesian education.
I like all kinds of work, especially in the economic field. That is why, after I graduated from high school, I then enriched my knowledge on a more specific economy, specifically Accounting Economy. Economic science, in my opinion, has a very comprehensive scope because from the Accounting Economy only, we can get various branches of job fields in it, such as Public Sector Accounting, Forensic Accounting, Auditing Accounting, and Tax Accounting.
I am intrigued by Taman Baca Inovator’s visions and missions, a social foundation working to improve the education in Indonesia through the opening of taman baca or children libraries across the archipelago. I realize that there is still lacking capabilities among the people in remote areas due to the fact that education; in which one of its factors is parents who are less capable of providing proper education to their children, let alone buying books for them.
In my opinion, my accomplishments this far at the age of 27, I feel uncomfortable writing this, but there is only a little thing that I have achieved, 50 % of them is still unattained. However, I will try my best so I can reach my goals.
